Pulpitis

A toothache that comes on suddenly, doesn't go away at night, or interferes with your work may be pulpitis. Pulpitis is one of the most common dental diseases, but most people only find out about it in the dentist's chair. Pulpitis needs to be treated urgently to prevent it from becoming chronic. On the other hand, it can be easily prevented without resorting to emergency measures.

Pulpitis is a common dental infection that affects the pulp of the tooth, which fills the inner cavity of the tooth. The inflammatory process causes poor circulation, affects nerve endings, and causes severe pain. Because of the many nerve cells in the pulp, the pain can be unbearable, especially at night when a person is resting. Failure to see a dentist in a timely manner can lead to tooth loss, inflammation of the gum and periosteum, and even blood poisoning. Distinguish between acute, purulent and chronic pulpitis, depending on the duration of its course.

It can be caused by various factors such as tooth decay, traumatic damage to the tooth (e.g., chipping, rough grinding of the tooth for a crown), high sensitivity of the tooth, and bacterial infection.

Symptoms of pulpitis include:

  • throbbing pain in the tooth that responds to hot or cold;
  • swelling and swelling of the gum around the tooth;
  • bleeding of the tooth;
  • increased susceptibility to pressure;
  • in the purulent form - an increase in body temperature.

Also pulpitis can proceed asymptomatically.

Pulpitis is treated in one or more visits with an anti-inflammatory medication inserted into the root canals

Sometimes in advanced cases, the tooth may need to be extracted to prevent the infection from spreading.
